Project description: uburu.com is the portfolio site for one of our designers - Blake Anthony Ross. The ideal setting to display fine art is on an empty white wall (a noninteractive space) with museum-quality lighting. But this is a website (a wholly interactive space with potentially awful monitors). Hence the challenge: one wants to showcase visual art stylistically, but not to the extent that it detracts from the artwork's presentation. Our solution was to employ a minimalistic interface, but to harness Flash to offer subtle details that were attractive for the website, yet not detractive for the artwork. Each time a user comes to the site, it is built entirely anew via Actionscript 2.0, which calls on a core XML file that contains all the site's information. It is 100% dynamic, sitewide revisions can be made in seconds, and yeah, she's a beauty. No touching and no flash photography, please.
